JustEat Plus costs £3.99 a month for unlimited free delivery. The problem? Most people sign up for the “free trial” and completely forget about it until they see the charge on their bank statement three months later.
Cancelling should be simple, but JustEat doesn’t make it obvious. There’s no cancel button on the main account page. You won’t find it in settings. They’ve buried it in a submenu that most people never open.
I signed up during lockdown when I was ordering twice a week. Made sense then. Now I order maybe once a month, so that £3.99 is a waste. Took me ten minutes to find the cancel option the first time.
Here’s where it actually is.
What you need to know:
⏱️ Time to cancel: 2 minutes once you know where to look
📱 Where: JustEat app or website (both work)
💷 Cost to cancel: Free
⚠️ Important: Must cancel before renewal date or you’re charged
📅 Updated: February 2026
Check Your Renewal Date Right Now
Before you do anything else, find out when JustEat will charge you next.
In the app:
- Open JustEat app
- Tap “Account” (bottom right)
- Tap the settings gear icon (top right)
- Scroll to “JustEat Plus”
- Your renewal date is at the top
On the website:
- Go to just-eat.co.uk
- Click your name (top right)
- Click “Account settings”
- Click “JustEat Plus membership”
- Renewal date shows at the top
If your renewal is tomorrow: You might still get charged even if you cancel today. JustEat processes renewals starting 24 hours before the actual date.
If your renewal is in a few days: Cancel now and you’ll be fine.
If you just got charged today: Cancel anyway, then follow the refund steps at the bottom of this guide.
What Actually Happens When You Cancel
Let me be clear so there are no surprises:
You lose immediately:
- Free delivery benefit (even if you have days left in your paid month)
- This is different from other subscriptions – most let you use it until the period ends
- JustEat cuts access the moment you cancel
You keep:
- Your account and order history
- Any unused vouchers (these are separate from Plus)
- Ability to still order (you just pay delivery fees)
Refunds:
JustEat doesn’t automatically refund you for unused days. If you cancel on the 5th but paid for the whole month on the 1st, you lose those 25 days unless you specifically request a refund (more on that later).
So if you’ve just renewed, you might want to wait and cancel a day or two before your next renewal instead.
Method 1: Cancel in the JustEat App
This works the same on iPhone and Android.
Step by step:
Step 1: Open the JustEat app and make sure you’re logged in.
Step 2: Tap “Account” in the bottom right corner (the little person icon).
Step 3: Tap the settings gear icon in the top right corner of the account screen.
Step 4: Scroll down until you see “JustEat Plus” – tap it.
Step 5: Scroll past all the benefits information, past the FAQs, all the way to the bottom.
Step 6: You’ll see “Cancel membership” in small grey text. Tap it.
Step 7: JustEat will show you a warning: “You’ll lose free delivery immediately.”
Tap “Continue” if you still want to cancel.
Step 8: They’ll ask “Are you sure?”
Yes, you’re sure. Tap “Cancel membership.”
Step 9: You should see a confirmation message: “Your JustEat Plus membership has been cancelled.”
Screenshot this screen.
The app doesn’t send a confirmation email (annoying, I know), so this screenshot is your only proof.
Verify it worked:
Go back to Account → Settings → JustEat Plus.
It should now say “You are not a JustEat Plus member” or “Join JustEat Plus” instead of showing your membership details.
If you still see an active membership with a renewal date, the cancellation didn’t work. Try again or use Method 2.
Method 2: Cancel on JustEat Website
Sometimes the app acts weird. The website is more reliable.
Steps:
Step 1: Go to just-eat.co.uk and log in (click “Sign in” top right).
Step 2: Click on your name in the top right corner.
Step 3: Select “Account settings” from the dropdown.
Step 4: Look for “JustEat Plus membership” in the left sidebar menu. Click it.
Step 5: Scroll down past your membership details.
Step 6: Click “Cancel membership” (it’s a text link, easy to miss).
Step 7: Confirm on the popup that appears.
Step 8: You’ll see “Your membership has been cancelled” at the top of the page.
The website version usually sends a confirmation email within a few hours. Check your inbox (and spam folder).
Method 3: Contact JustEat Customer Service
Use this if the app and website both fail, or if you want written confirmation.
Contact options:
Twitter/X: @JustEatUK (fastest response, usually within an hour)
Facebook Messenger: JustEat UK page
Help Centre: Go to just-eat.co.uk → Help → Contact Us → Chat
What to say:
“I’d like to cancel my JustEat Plus membership. My account email is [your email]. Please confirm when it’s cancelled.”
They’ll cancel it during the conversation and should give you a reference number.
Save the conversation (screenshot or download the chat transcript).
Can You Cancel and Still Use Your Days?
No. This is the frustrating part.
Most subscriptions let you cancel but continue using the service until your paid period ends. JustEat doesn’t work that way.
The moment you cancel, you lose free delivery – even if you renewed yesterday and technically paid for 29 more days.
So when should you actually cancel?
Best timing:
- 2-3 days before your renewal date
- That way you get the most out of what you’ve already paid for
- But still cancel early enough that you don’t get charged again
Set a reminder:
When you sign up, immediately set a phone reminder for 3 days before the monthly renewal. That way you won’t forget and waste another £3.99.
Remove Your Payment Card
Your card details stay saved even after cancelling.
Delete it:
In the app:
- Account → Settings gear → Payment methods
- Tap your saved card
- Tap “Remove”
On the website:
- Account settings → Payment methods
- Click the X next to your card
- Confirm removal
Why bother?
If you decide to order from JustEat again in a few months, you might click “Join Plus” by accident while browsing. If your card is saved, it’ll charge you immediately without asking.
Remove the card, and even if you accidentally click join, you’ll have to enter payment details manually – giving you a chance to realize what you’re doing.
What If You Were Charged After Cancelling
This happens. Here’s what to do.
If the charge is from before you cancelled:
That’s a legitimate charge. You won’t get it back unless you specifically request a refund (see next section).
If you were charged AFTER cancelling:
Immediately (same day):
- Contact JustEat via Twitter @JustEatUK
- Say: “I cancelled Plus on [date] but was charged today. Please refund. My email is [your email].”
- Attach your cancellation screenshot
They usually fix this within 24-48 hours.
If they don’t respond in 3 days:
- Contact your bank
- Dispute the charge as “subscription charged after cancellation”
- Provide your proof (screenshot)
Banks almost always side with customers on this. You’ll get refunded within 5-10 working days.
How to Get a Refund for Unused Days
JustEat doesn’t advertise this, but you can request a refund if you cancel mid-month.
Here’s how:
Contact JustEat support:
Via Twitter @JustEatUK or the website chat.
What to say:
“I’ve cancelled my JustEat Plus membership but was charged on [date]. I’ve only used free delivery [X] times this month. Can I get a refund for the unused portion?”
Success rate:
Maybe 50/50. JustEat’s official policy is no refunds, but some customer service reps will refund you as a “goodwill gesture” – especially if:
- You’ve been a customer for a long time
- You’ve barely used Plus this month
- You’re polite but firm
Worth trying. Worst case, they say no.
The Free Trial Trap
This is how most people end up with JustEat Plus without meaning to.
When you’re checking out, JustEat shows a big button: “Get free delivery – Join Plus FREE for 30 days.”
What they don’t make obvious:
- After 30 days, you’re automatically charged £3.99/month
- You have to manually cancel during the trial
- There’s no reminder email before the charge
If you’re in a free trial right now:
Cancel it today. You’ll keep the free delivery for the rest of your trial period AND you won’t get charged when it ends.
Go to Account → Settings → JustEat Plus → Cancel membership.
The app will confirm: “You’ll keep free delivery until [end date], then your membership won’t renew.”
That’s the smart way to use the free trial – sign up, immediately cancel, use it for 30 days free, never get charged.
Is JustEat Plus Actually Worth It?
Honest answer: only if you order at least twice a month.
The maths:
Average JustEat delivery fee: £2-3
Plus membership cost: £3.99/month
If you order:
- Once a month: You lose money
- Twice a month: Break even (maybe)
- Three+ times a month: You save money
But also consider:
- Deliveroo and Uber Eats often have free delivery promotions
- Some restaurants on JustEat have their own delivery (no fee even without Plus)
- Minimum order amounts can be higher with Plus restaurants
For me, I realised I was paying £3.99 to save £2.50 on one delivery per month. Made no sense.
Can You Rejoin Later?
Yes, anytime.
JustEat will probably email you offers to come back – usually “First month for £1.99” or similar.
When you rejoin:
- Your account and order history is still there
- You pay current pricing (might have gone up)
- You might not get the free trial again (usually only for “new” members)
Frequently Asked Questions
If I cancel during the free trial, do I lose it immediately?
No. If you cancel during the trial, you keep free delivery until the trial period ends. You just won’t be charged when it expires. This is the smart way to do it.
Can I cancel and rejoin every month to avoid paying?
Technically yes, but JustEat catches on. After a few cycles, they’ll stop offering you the free trial. Plus it’s a hassle. If you’re ordering that rarely, just pay delivery fees when you need to.
What if I cancel by accident?
You’ll have to rejoin as a new subscriber. There’s no “undo” button. You lose any remaining days from your previous subscription and start fresh.
Do I get Plus benefits on every restaurant?
No. Only restaurants that show the Plus logo. Some restaurants aren’t part of the scheme. Always check before ordering.
Can I share my Plus account?
Against the rules. One account, one person. If JustEat notices multiple delivery addresses or devices, they can suspend your account.
Will restaurants treat my order differently without Plus?
No. The restaurant doesn’t know or care if you have Plus. It only affects the delivery fee you pay to JustEat.
What happens to my account if I cancel?
Nothing. Your regular JustEat account stays active. You can still order, leave reviews, use vouchers. Plus is just an add-on.
