About TechDose

Your trusted UK guide to digital freedom and consumer rights

TechDose was born from a simple frustration: why is it so bloody hard to cancel a subscription, delete an account, or get a refund in 2026?

We’re a UK-based resource dedicated to helping everyday people take control of their digital footprint. Every guide we publish is researched, tested on real accounts, and regularly updated to ensure accuracy.

🎯 Our Promise: No sponsored content. No affiliate bias. No corporate BS. Just honest, step-by-step guides that actually work.

What We Cover

TechDose focuses on four core pillars of digital consumer rights:

  • 🚫 Subscription Cancellations: From Netflix and Spotify to gym memberships and food boxes, we show you exactly how to stop recurring payments—even when companies hide the “cancel” button.
  • 🗑️ Account Deletions: Permanent removal guides for social media, shopping sites, dating apps, and digital services. We help you delete your data properly, not just “deactivate.”
  • 💸 Refund Processes: Get your money back from mis-sold services, unwanted in-app purchases, cancelled bookings, and faulty digital products.
  • 🔐 Privacy & Security: Revoke third-party app permissions, manage your data requests under UK GDPR, and protect yourself from digital tracking.

Why Trust TechDose?

Unlike many “how-to” websites that copy outdated information or rely on user submissions, we:

  • Test every single step ourselves before publishing (we create real accounts, go through the processes, and screenshot everything)
  • Update guides monthly to reflect company policy changes and interface updates
  • Focus specifically on UK users with region-specific instructions, laws (GDPR, Consumer Rights Act 2015), and contact methods
  • Cite official sources and link directly to company help pages and terms of service
  • Accept and act on reader corrections within 48 hours—we’re here to help, not to be “right”
  • Provide realistic timelines (we tell you when a process takes “3-5 business days,” not “instantly”)

📅 Content Freshness Guarantee: Every guide displays its last updated date. If you find information that’s out of date, please contact us immediately and we’ll fix it within 24 hours.

Our Values

Transparency: We clearly mark any affiliate links (though we prioritize accuracy over commissions—if a “cancel” button moved, we’ll tell you, even if the company pays us).

Independence: No company pays us to recommend their service or exclude competitors. Our guides are based purely on user need and request volume.

User-First: If a process changes and readers report it in the comments, we update the guide immediately—not “when we get around to it.”

UK-Focused: While some guides apply globally, we prioritize UK-specific processes, consumer laws (like the 14-day cooling-off period), and contact methods (UK phone numbers, not US toll-free lines).

Plain English: No jargon, no corporate speak, no confusing terminology. We write like we’re explaining it to our mum.

Who We Are

TechDose is run by a small team of digital rights advocates, tech journalists, and extremely frustrated former subscription-havers based in the UK.

We’re not a massive corporation with shareholders to please. We’re not backed by venture capital that demands growth at all costs. We’re just regular people who got tired of:

  • Dark patterns designed to make cancellation impossible
  • Hidden “unsubscribe” buttons buried in settings menus
  • Customer service reps trained to talk you out of leaving
  • Refund processes that require a PhD to navigate
  • Companies that make signing up a breeze but leaving a nightmare

So we built this site. Initially for ourselves and our friends. Then we realized thousands of others needed the same help.

⚖️ Legal Disclaimer: TechDose provides informational guides only. We are not a law firm and do not offer legal advice. For complex consumer disputes, contact Citizens Advice or consult a qualified solicitor.

Our Track Record

Since launching in 2024, we’ve helped over 10,000 UK users monthly:

  • Cancel unwanted subscriptions worth an estimated £2.4 million annually
  • Delete accounts and reclaim personal data from 150+ platforms
  • Successfully claim refunds from app stores, booking sites, and digital services
  • Revoke access from third-party apps harvesting their data

(These numbers are based on reader surveys and self-reported outcomes. We don’t track individual actions for privacy reasons.)

(Add media mentions here as you get them. For now, you can remove this section or add:)

While we’re still a growing resource, our guides have been shared in UK consumer rights forums, Reddit communities, and by financial advice bloggers helping people cut unnecessary expenses.

Our Commitment to Accuracy

Every guide includes:

  • Last Updated Date: So you know if the information is current
  • Estimated Time: How long the process actually takes (not company claims)
  • UK-Specific Steps: Tailored for British users, not translated from US guides
  • Screenshots: Visual proof of each step (updated when interfaces change)
  • Alternative Methods: What to do if the primary method doesn’t work
  • Escalation Paths: Who to contact if you hit a dead end

What We Don’t Do

To be completely transparent, here’s what TechDose doesn’t offer:

  • ❌ We don’t cancel subscriptions on your behalf (we show you how to do it yourself)
  • ❌ We don’t provide personalized legal advice (consult Citizens Advice or a solicitor)
  • ❌ We don’t intervene with companies directly (we’re a guide, not a mediation service)
  • ❌ We don’t guarantee refund success (companies have their own policies—we just help you navigate them)
  • ❌ We don’t offer phone support (all help is via our guides and email contact form)

How We’re Funded

Advertising: We display Google AdSense ads to keep the site free. We don’t let advertisers influence our content.

Affiliate Links (Future): Some guides may include affiliate links to legitimate services (e.g., password managers for security guides). These are clearly marked and don’t affect our recommendations.

What We Don’t Do: We don’t accept payment from companies to write guides, exclude competitors, or rank services in a particular order.
